So long Christmas...Family Secret Santa

Here are some photos from our annual sibling Secret Santa gift exchange.  This year our friend Eric B. (honorary Munoz sibling, I've known him since pre-school) offered to host.  As you'll notice below our gatherings have turned into wine and sippy cup nights.  Everyone usually brings over a hodgepodge of dishes and wine and go to town.  I made spicy shrimp and ginger pork steamed dumplings, Eric made pot roast, Mae and Dennis brought over bread and cheeses, and Jason and April brought over so Korean rice wine.  And of course everyone brings vino.

Zinfandel Braised Short Ribs

Happy New Year!!!  Here's my first food entry to bring in the new year!

Below is last night's attempt at Zinfandel Braised Short Ribs from a recipe I found on Foodtv.com.  I figure I start a pot before the Brambleton Ring in the Hope 10K race that I decided to run with my sister.  By the time the race would be finished this dish would be done.  And no it didn't take me two and half hours to finish the race. The short ribs turned out fork tender, however I probably should have reduced the zinfandel reduction a tad longer.  The only change I made to the recipe was some added brown sugar to the sauce for some sweetness.

Nikon D90 vs iPhone

Here's a picture of the same latte I took with my iPhone in my previous post.  I made the photo below with my Nikon D90 using a 35mm prime lens.  Since I had the aperture at 1.8 it created a shallow depth of field. Which photo do you like better?
